CFDA: More than 100 New Industry Standards released by CFDA

The China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) has announced numerous new standards for CFDA certification of medical devices. According to the official announcement number 36 from October 21, 2013 (Chinese version), respectively November 26, 2013 (English version), 104 new standards were published.

New GB standard and certification rules for small-and medium-sized electric rotary motors

On December 13, 2013 the National Committee for Standardization of the People’s Republic of China announced that the GB Standards 14711:2013 (published since July 2013) regarding the “Safety Requirements for Small and Medium-sized Rotating Electric Motors (motors and generators)” which will officially replace the previous GB standard 14711:2006.

CFDA: Amendments in the official “Regulations for the Supervision and Administration of Medical Devices”

The sale and/or use of some medical products and medical devices in China require prior testing and approval from the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA). The regulatory system for registration of medical devices is based (among others) on the Regulations for the Supervision and Administration of Medical Devices. Recently, there have been changes made in regards to these regulations that can have serious consequences for manufacturers of medical devices.

CCC: New GB Standard 15084-2013 for rear view mirrors on the verge of introduction

Recently, GB Standard 15084 for rear view mirrors inside and outside the car, title: “Motor vehicles – Devices for indirect vision – Requirements of performance and installation” was revised. The GB Standard “GB 15084-2006” will be replaced by the new version “GB 15084-2013.” In the new version, a couple of significant changes have been made.

CCC certification for child safety seats in motor vehicles will be mandatory

In joint announcement No. 6 of 2014 the AQSIQ and CNCA announced that the previously voluntary CCC certification for Child Restraint Systems (CQC 11 – 491287-2013) will become mandatory September 1, 2014.

CCC: New implementation rules CNCA-02C-023:2012 for CCC certification of vehicles

CCC: New GB Standard 13837:2012 for sound, television and radio equipment

As of July 1, 2013 the GB 13837:2012 standard for sound and television broadcast receivers and associated equipment, devices with radio disturbance and related product categories such as audio and video equipment for China Compulsory Certification (CCC) came into force and replaced the previous GB 13837:2003.

CQC: New CQC Safety Certification for Child Restraint Systems

On May 17, 2013 China Quality Certification Center (CQC) announced they have developed and introduced a voluntary CQC safety certification for child restraint systems. It bases on the existing National Standards GB 27887:2011 (Restraining devices for child occupants of power-driven vehicles) and GB 8410:2006 (Interior trimming material in vehicles).

CFDA: Changes in requirement for the approval of medical devices for the P.R. China

Certain medical products and medical devices must be certified and registered by the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) before they can be exported to China. Until recently, CCC certification at CQC was also required for some of these products. The AQSIQ changed this policy with “Announcement 52” in April 2013, no longer requiring CCC certification (with the CQC) for medical products and devices as of May 2013. All certification for medical products and devices now falls under the CFDA certification and registration process.
