CCC: Article about CCC-Certification for Automobiles and Automotive parts published in In-Compliance Magazine

6. September 2016

On August 31, 2016 In-Compliance Magazine published an article about the CCC-certification of automobiles and automotive parts on its website. The article was written by Mr. Julian Busch, CEO of the China Certification Corporation .

According to the article there has been continued growth and interest in Chinese market throughout 2015. For 2015, it was estimated that the automotive market would grow by approximately 3%. According to CAAM (China Association of Automobile Manufacturers), the actual growth for 2015 was 4.7% with additional growth specifically in the upper-end luxury car market.
The growth of the Chinese market is phenomenal. The US market is the second largest market for automobiles. In 2015 the US sold 17.2 million cars. That same year China sold 24.6 million cars according to Forbes Magazine (January 12, 2016).

Since Chinese branded cars make up for only around 40% of all sold vehicles in China, it remains to be one of the most attractive markets for European and US car manufacturers.

Along with the potential and chances, the author mainly identifies three things to be one of the major challenges for Chinese market penetration and sales strategy: CCC.

Comparable with the European CE certification, the CCC certification serves to ensure high quality standards for of imported and Chinese produced goods. CCC was implemented in 2002.

The article focusses on the certification of “whole cars” as well as the individual parts that are required to be CCC certified. Specific production parts and service parts need CCC certification before being shipped individually or on vehicles. It encompasses the different types of complete car homologation, as well as CCC for single automotive parts over the entire lifespan.
You can find detailed information on the process and the associated costs of CCC-certification on our website.

The article provides an overview of CCC certification process, the GB standards and their corresponding implementation rules. In order to ensure a steady improvement of product safety, the GB standards and implementation rules are being updated continuously to adapt to current trends in research and development. These ever-changing quality standards present an enormous challenge for the car manufacturer and their suppliers. It is important that they keep up to date in order to remain in compliance and to be able to continue to ship their vehicles and parts into China.
