27. February 2023

Until 2018, the abbreviation AQSIQ stood for the “General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine” of the People’s Republic of China. The authority, which is equivalent to a ministry, worked on the direct instructions of the State Council of the People’s Republic and is responsible for the following areas: national quality, metrology, goods inspection on entry, health quarantine on entry, animal and plant quarantine on entry, food safety on import and export, certification and accreditation, standardisation, and enforcement of administrative law. In 2018, the AQSIQ was merged with the newly established State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR).
