CSEI (China Special Equipment Inspection And Research Institute)

Founded in 1979, the CSEI (China Special Equipment Inspection And Research Institute) is directly subordinate to the SAMR (State Administration for Market Regulation) and is responsible for the research, inspection and assessment of special equipment, including boilers, pressure vessels, pressure pipelines, elevators, cranes, cable cars, large amusement park facilities and non-road vehicles. Boilers, pressure vessels, pressure pipelines, and similar product categories fall under SELO certification, also known as China Manufacture License, in China.

Standards for the China Manufacture License

On behalf of the SAMR, the CSEI is responsible for legislation on special equipment, the preparation and development of safety specifications, national standards and industry standards, including the China Manufacture License. In addition, CSEI manages the application, verification and issuance of certificates for the design, manufacture and installation of special equipment, for inspection and testing bodies, and for the qualification of personnel. In accordance with Chinese regulations and specification for special equipment, CSEI conducts compliance tests of over 2000 manufacturing companies worldwide to ensure the quality of special equipment imported into China.
