China Revises Toy Safety Standard GB 6675.1

27. November 2025

China has officially announced the replacement of the GB 6675.1-2014 standard with the newly issued GB 6675.1-2025, titled Safety of Toys—Part 1: Basic Code. This update represents a broader regulatory shift aimed at enhancing the safety requirements applied to children’s products. Although the full technical details of the revised standard have not yet been published, the change underscores China’s ongoing commitment to aligning domestic regulations with evolving safety expectations and international practices. Toys usually require CCC certification in order to be approved for import and sale in China.

The China Compulsory Certification (CCC) mark serves as a mandatory conformity assessment system intended to protect consumer safety and ensure product quality within the Chinese market. For toys, CCC certification is essential not only to verify compliance with national standards like GB 6675 but also to prevent risks associated with hazardous materials, mechanical parts, and flammable components. Manufacturers, both domestic and international, must complete product testing and factory inspections before obtaining the CCC mark, making it a crucial gateway for market access in China’s regulated toy sector.
