China enforces Mandatory Registration for Energy Storage Batteries
18. September 2025Starting August 1, 2024, energy storage battery products are now subject to mandatory registration under the battery product registration platform maintained by the China Quality Certification Center (CQC). This registration is based on the implementation rules outlined in “Battery Product Registration Rules for Energy Storage” (CQC-C1203-2024), which apply to both lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries used in electric energy storage systems. Registration information submitted will be shared with the National Energy Administration’s electric power safety monitoring platform, enhancing supervision and oversight. Various battery systems and components usually require CCC certification or a battery registration for China in order to be approved for import and sale in China.
