New GB Standard for Motorcycle Headlights Issued

In 2016 the Chinese standardization organization SAC published a new GB standard for motorcycle headlights, GB 19152-2016. The standard was fully implemented in early 2017 and is the currently valid standard for motorcycle headlights.

The most significant change is that it combined two previous standards: GB 19152-2003 (Light Motorcycle Headlamps with Light Performance) and GB 5948-1998 (Motorcycle White Braided Silk Light Headlamps with Light Performance). The new standard mandates the testing and material requirements for the complete headlight models as well as the individual optical components.

Headlamps with an asymmetrical dipped beam have a different standard. For asymmetrical dipped beamed headlamps, the test regulations for automotive headlamps will be used (GB 4599, GB 21259, GB 25991).

For products that were certified prior to the introduction of the new standard, additional tests as well as certificate updating is required.
