CNCA Announcement No. 9 – Revision of 1,077 Standards in Progress
The CNCA (Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China) stated in its ninth announcement of April 12, 2017 that additional 1,077 mandatory standards will be updated in cooperation with the AQSIQ (General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine) and SAC (Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China). The purpose of the revisions is to improve the intelligibility and content-related adaptations of test standards, in order to avoid interpretation differences between accredited test laboratories and auditors.
Since the Chinese standards are constantly subject to change and the short-term implementation of new standards is connected to transition periods (e.g. for CCC certification), certified manufacturers should check regularly for regulatory changes. If the existing certifications do not correspond to the current Chinese standards, manufacturers are risking import problems at the Chinese customs as well as non-compliance during annual factory inspections.
In our news section, we will inform you about new certification regulations, announcements about changes to existing regulations and all other related topics, especially in regards to CCC certification. A large portion of the certifications process is based on the product tests that are defined for each product individually in the respective CNCA and GB standards.
The Implementation Rules determine the framework of each certification procedure as well as which product tests are required for the respective certification. However, they do not define the tests (procedure) in detail. The product tests, test method, and acceptable results are defined by the GB standard (GB stands for Guobiao, Chinese for “National Standard”).
