Electric Heating Appliances for Household Use Become CCC Mandatory Products

Many products that can be found in every household and daily life are subject to CCC certification. In order to be able to export products to China legally, it is the responsibility of the exporter and/or manufacturer to carefully check every product and to fully understand the applicable regulations prior to shipping.

The China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) regularly publishes new announcements about products that require CCC certification as well as products that can be certified with a Voluntary CQC Mark Certification. For a successful market entry into China, it is necessary to comply with the Chinese regulations and Standards (GB Standards).

It was recently announced that the following products will be subject to China Compulsory Certification in the near future:

• Electric blankets
• Electric Mattress Pad
• Similar Appliances with Flexible Heating Elements

The GB Standard states that these appliances cannot have a higher voltage than 250V, in order to maintain the safety for the user. The valid GB standard for electric heating appliances for household use is GB 4706.8-2008. The requirements for the product testscan be found in the GB 4706.8-2008. There will be also a corresponding implementation rulesthat define the framework for the certification process and rules for maintaining compliance.
