China takes over leading role in the field of electric mobility
We recently wrote about electric mobility market in China in our News Section.
China not only is the biggest automotive market in the world, it is also leading in terms of production and sales of electric vehicles. While the market in the rest of the world only grows slowly, in China electric and plug in hybrid vehicles are sold like nowhere else. In the past year, the sales of those vehicles only grew 4.8 percent to 148,000 in the EU, as the European Manufacturers Association (ACEA) reported. In China on the other hand the sales volume raised up to 336,000 sold vehicles during the same period, according to the Center of Automotive (CAM) in Bergisch Gladbach. In 2015, 207,000 electric and plug in hybrid vehicles were sold, which is a plus 62 percent. Thus, in China more non-emission free vehicles were sold than in the US and Europe all together.
With 1.8 percent in 2018, the sales volume share of electric and hybrid vehicles of the whole automotive market is still low. In China, there are strict admission rules when buying cars with combustion engines. Not only is passing out of license plates overviewed by the authorities, the license allocation is restricted to a certain amount each year. The licenses are then being drawn by lottery. Against that background, admission is much easier for emission-free vehicles. On top of that, in their fight against air pollution, the Chinese authorities provide premiums of several thousand Euros as well as tax advantages in order to promote sales of electric vehicles. In addition, they are excluded from the driving ban, which is for example fostered once a week for cars with combustion engines in Beijing.
Even in China action is still required. The density of charging stations and the reach is still low. Also the duration of the charging process is way to long for many Chinese drivers. The government though still wants to further promote electric driving, which is also expressed in the announcement to implement an electric-quota, which we discussed previously in our News Section.
Electric vehicles need CCC certification for the Chinese market. Are you a manufacturer of electric vehicles and need information regarding CCC? For further information regarding CCCor the detailed implementation rules please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Also, it is more and more advisable to voluntarily certify the charging cable with CCC. The applying standards are CQC1103-2015, CQC1104-2015, CQC1105-2015 und GBT 20234.1-201. We are gladly supporting you in this matter as well.
