First Draft of Chinese Community Standards for Automotive Headlights Published
The China Certification Center for Automotive Products (CCAP) hosted a conference in Guangzhou last month under the title of “technical requirements for front-end headlights for motor vehicles”. Experts and high-ranking representatives of Chinese politics, business and certification authorities were among the participants, who ultimately agreed on a first draft for Chinese community standards on the subject.
The expert commission was established in March on the initiative of the China Automotive Maintenance and Repair Trades Association (CAMRA) to improve the quality and technical specification of front-end headlights. The long-term objective is to reduce the number of road accidents and increase the safety for all road users.
All sides were satisfied with the progress so far and praised the synergy effects resulting from the equal participation of companies and legislators. The event was also described as a great opportunity to exchange ideas. Closing remarks were given by Mr. Chen Xiaodong who is the assistant to the management and head of CCAP’s research and technology development department. In his speech, he urged to maintain the current high standards on developing the new regulations, while at the same time pushing on rapidly revising and implementing the draft.
Today, it is not clear yet when the new requirements will come into force and how they are going to affect the export of vehicle lighting and necessary CCC certifications. We will inform you here on our website, as soon as news on the topic are available.
