Change of Rules Regarding Air Quality in Vehicle Interior
In our News Section, we already informed you that the air quality in the vehicle interior cabin gains increasing attention by the Chinese authorities.
The cabin air quality can affect the driver’s ability to judge and react, the driver’s mental balance and the overall ability to safely drive. Vehicle cabin materials and outside environmental influences can affect the interior cabin air quality. The Chinese administration already published a guideline for “Air quality assessment of passenger car” (GB/T 27630-2011) where testing methods as well as maximum values for odor emission of materials within the vehicle interior such as plastics, textile, glue or rubber, are described and set. At this time the guideline is still voluntary.
Now it seems that a new mandatory GB Standard GB 27630 (GB stands for “Guobiao”, Chinese for “National Standard”) is to replace the voluntary guideline. The GB 27630 is planned to be implemented in 2020 for complete vehicles in order to support the assessment and improvement of the air quality in the passenger compartment of M1-class vehicles. This specifically applies to eight harmful substances such as benzene, toluene, xylenes, ethylbenzene, styrene, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acrolein.
As soon as we have more detailed information we will publish this in our News Section.
