Following an announcement from last year, <\/strong>China has now implemented the mandatory China Compulsory Certification (CCC)<\/strong> for e-bikes: Since August 1st<\/sup>, 2018, electric bicycles are now subject to CCC<\/strong>. A legal import and distribution as well as production in China is therefore only possible with a valid CCC certificate<\/a><\/strong>.

The Chinese Certification and Accreditation Authority of China (CNCA)<\/strong> recently issued the official CNCA implementation rules<\/a><\/strong> that are the basis for the certification process. The regulations for e-bikes have the code CNCA-C11-16:2018<\/strong>. E-bike models that meet certain criteria can be combined in so-called certification units. Important criteria for the unit classification, amongst others, are the bicycle frame and front fork, the type of electric drive and the battery used.
The product requirements for e-bikes are stipulated in the Chinese national standards, the so-called GB standards<\/a><\/strong>. The relevant standard for electric bikes is GB 17761<\/strong>. As announced earlier this year<\/a><\/strong>, the current version of the standard from 1999 is currently being revised due to the new regulations and will be replaced by a new version later this year. After a transitional period, the new standard is expected to be implemented in April 2019.
