1. How long does the certification process take?
The certification process typically lasts between 4-8 months, depending on the service provider you choose.

2. How much does certification cost?
Costs will depend on the type and number of products you want to certify; please see our cost example for further information.

3. What are the benefits of certifying my product?
Once you have completed your CCC certification, you enjoy many competitive advantages. Your products can freely harness the huge potential of the Chinese market and be imported without problems at customs. After successful first-time certification, additional products can be certified quickly and inexpensively.

4. How do I find out whether my product requires CCC?
A complete list of products that require certification is published by AQSIQ and CNCA. You can find an overview which products need CCC here: CCC mandatory products.

5. How should I prepare for certification?
Testing for CCC certification follows a product-specific GB Standard. Therefore, checking the product standards, identifying the relevant Chinese regulations and following the appropriate checklists are the best ways to prepare for certification. We also recommend reading our Information booklet “CCC Made Easy” for additional insight into the process.

6. What are the advantages of an all-inclusive certification with China Certification?
By choosing a service package that covers all aspects of the certification process, you can significantly reduce time, frustration and unnecessary expenses. We can assist in drawing up a proper application, hiring a competent testing laboratory and facilitating a smooth audit, ensuring a professional, hassle-free experience.

7. Do I need to worry about my intellectual property rights during the certification process?
If you follow a certain set of rules, you do not have to worry about your know-how being tapped. With good preparation, you can direct the audit in such a way that a minimal amount of critical intellectual property is disclosed. By submitting rough drafts of product drawings and a savvy handling of application documents, the risk can be further minimized.

8. Can I test products outside of China, for example, in my home country?
No. Test labs outside China are not authorized for CCC product testing.

9. What other certifications do I need for my product?
Unless your product is subject to additional mandatory certifications, such as for medical products and telecommunications products, no additional certifications will be necessary upon obtaining a CCC.

10. Is CCC required for a one-time delivery to China?
Yes. If your product is subject to CCC, even a one-time delivery will be held at customs and a CCC certificate demanded.

11. Who should be responsible for compliance with CCC quality requirements in my company?
The factory’s quality manager is responsible for compliance with Chinese regulations.

12. What should I do when confronted with problems at customs?
If your product is detained at customs due to a CCC-related issue, it should first be determined if certification is actually compulsory for your specific product.

13. For what reasons can my certification fail?
The most common reason is discrepancy between product specifications entered in the application forms and the actual product. In addition, failing product tests or an audit revealing insufficient quality control will result in certification failure.

Unusable or partially usable certificates are sometimes issued, which can be attributed to errors in the completion of the application. This likewise, can be considered a CCC failure.

14. Is the CCC also compulsory for products that are produced in China for export only?
For products specially produced according to foreign trade contracts and that are made exclusively for export, there is no need to apply for CCC certification.

15. Do components of an appliance require CCC?
If the whole appliance requires a 3C certificate, it is recommended to also apply for certification for each component; but it is also acceptable to only certify the appliance as a whole. In cars, all products that require CCC should be certified (due to spare part shipment requirements). If the appliance as a whole does not require CCC, the components of the machine that need CCC do not need to be certified separately if they are installed into the product, when the whole appliance is exported to China.
