China Issues New GB/T Standards for Vehicle Components
25. June 2026China has announced several new GB/T standards affecting vehicle components, electric bicycle batteries and automated driving systems. The update is relevant for CCC compliance in China, as manufacturers often use national standards to support product testing, technical documentation and conformity assessment.
The newly published standards include GB/T 25085.5 to GB/T 25085.10-2026 for automotive cables, GB/T 36972-2026 for lithium-ion batteries used in electric bicycles, and GB/T 47126-2026 for data communication between automated driving sensors and data fusion units. Most of these standards were released on February 27, 2026, with implementation dates of June 1 or September 1, 2026. Automotive cables, electric bicycle lithium-ion batteries and automated driving data communication components usually require CCC certification or a battery registration in order to be approved for import and sale in China.
New Automotive Cable Requirements Adopt ISO 19642
The six automotive cable standards cover copper and aluminium conductor cables for road vehicles, including single-core, multi-core, sheathed, screened and unscreened cable types. They address low-voltage ratings such as 30 V AC or 60 V DC, as well as higher-voltage applications up to 1,000 V AC or 1,500 V DC.
GB/T 25085.5, .6, .7, .8, .9 and .10-2026 are all product standards managed by the National Technical Committee of Auto Standardization. Each adopts the corresponding ISO 19642:2019 part, either for copper or aluminium conductors. GB/T 25085.7-2026 will fully replace GB/T 25087-2010, making it important for cable suppliers and vehicle manufacturers to review existing technical files and test references before the September 1, 2026 implementation date.
Battery and Automated Driving Standards Also Updated
China also issued GB/T 36972-2026, a performance technical specification for lithium-ion batteries used in electric bicycles. The standard will replace GB/T 36972-2018 and will take effect on September 1, 2026. It sits alongside related Chinese requirements for electric bicycle battery safety and battery management systems, supporting a broader compliance framework for e-bike market access.
For intelligent connected vehicles, GB/T 47126-2026 defines the logical interface for data communication between automated driving sensors and data fusion units. The standard modifies and adopts ISO 23150:2023 and became effective on June 1, 2026. Manufacturers should assess whether product designs, supplier specifications and certification documentation need updates to align with the new Chinese national standards before placing affected products on the Chinese market.
