5th International Symposium on Technical Requirements of International Automobile Markets in China
On August 22, 2017, the 5th International Symposium on International Technical Requirements and Standards in the Automotive Sector was held in Yinchuan, China (Ningxia Province).
More than 130 international participants were invited, including Chinese and international automotive manufacturers as well as representatives of various research and certification institutions with the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) playing a leading role.
The symposium’s long-term objective was to better coordinate national standards and regulations in the automotive sector between countries. The discussions included future plans and provisions on technologies not yet established (such as autonomous driving), as well as emissions standards, vehicle lighting and general safety guidelines.
Another aim was to form alliances between the countries to simplify the international automotive trade and to be able to react early on import requirements and regulations.
The roles of the US and the EU at the conference were emphasized. The article shows that China is planning to expand the export of its own vehicles in the future and is therefore particularly interested in close cooperation between the countries.
Further expansion and tightening of Chinese regulations can be expected in the future.
