New Standard for Test Procedures for Energy Consumption and Range of Electric Vehicles 18386.2-2022

On October 12, 2022, it was announced by Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China (SAC) in Notice Number 13, 2022 that there will be a new version for GB Standard GB/T 18386-2017: Test Procedure for Energy Consumption and Range of Electric Vehicles Part 2: Heavy Duty Vehicles from 01 May 2023: GB/T 18386.2-2022. E-mobility products often require CCC certification to be approved for import and sale in China.

GB/T 18386 is a national standard that covers the assessment of all-electric vehicles. The standard specifies a uniform test procedure, test cycle and method for calculating test results for electric vehicles and consists of two parts: Part 1 for light commercial vehicles and Part 2 for heavy commercial vehicles. The current revision of the part for heavy-duty vehicles focuses on the test procedure to standardize tests and to ensure the scientific nature of the test reports.

We will publish further details of the change on our website as they become available.

The GB Standards are the most important set of standards underlying product conformity in China. They apply to both locally manufactured and imported products.

All updates are relevant for certified brake hose manufacturers as well as their customers and involved suppliers.

The Chinese GB Standards and Implementation Rules are regularly revised by the authorities, often having considerable implications for the corresponding product manufacturers. Updates are usually not announced and must be independently tracked and implemented by certified factories. Failure to do so may result in severe consequences, including withdrawal of certification.
