AQSIQ: BMW Recalls Some of Their M5 and M6 Series Vehicles in China

8. September 2016

According to an announcement from September 1, 2016 published by the AQSIQ, the German car manufacturer BMW will be recalling some of their M5 and M6 series cars in China. All M5 models, produced between September 4, 2014 – October 29, 2014, and all M6 models produced between September 5, 2014 – November 26, 2014 could be affected.

The car manufacturer suspects the reason for the recall is due to issues with one of their suppliers. Some drive-shafts have faulty weld seams, which could cause complete failure when under stress. The result is an immediate disruption of power transmission to the wheels. There is a potential of additional damage to the mechanical parts of the vehicle and also a severe safety concern that the problem could result in accidents.

Owner of affected cars are being asked to directly contact BMW (China) Automotive Trading Co., Ltd. According to the car manufacturer, the faulty parts will be replaced for free.
